COVID-19 FAQs

Below is a list of common questions that the team has been receiving in response to the changes in the process of the Eco-Schools programme that have been in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. If you don't see an answer to your question here, please get in touch with a member of the team at eco-schools@keepnorthernirelandbeautiful.org.

My school has been awarded the Green Flag award. When will we receive our Green Flag?
The Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Office, that the Eco-Schools team operates out of, is currently closed with restricted access. All Green flags awarded after the first lockdown in March 2020 have now been posted. If you have not received your flag please get in touch with the team.

I have been asked to provide more evidence to support my application as it is desk assessed. What evidence can I provide?
We welcome any evidence that you think best reflects the Eco-Schools work you have done. This can take the form of photos, videos, samples of classwork, minutes from meetings, social media posts or links, the list is endless! If your application has already been submitted, this extra evidence can be emailed directly to the team. Otherwise, please put all extra evidence into your Resource Library that is found in the School Zone and this will be downloaded with your submitted application.

Classes in my school are operating in bubbles and school policy is against video calling. How do I form my Eco-Committee?
One class, year group or bubble can be selected as the Eco-Committee provided eco-activities are carried out in all year groups and evidence for this can be supplied. There is no stipulation in the 2020/21 year to have representatives from all age groups. We suggest that P4-P7 in primary schools would be the most suitable age group under the current circumstances. In nursery school, teacher led is acceptable.
