Eco-Schools Teachers Conference 21st March 2019, W5, Belfast – register by the 7th March!

We are delighted to announce that registration is open for our third annual Eco-Schools Conference. This is a landmark year for us as we celebrate Eco-Schools’ 25th Anniversary. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Plastic and the Marine Environment’ and will see the launch of a brand new Eco-Schools Marine topic.

We have all been moved by documentaries like A Plastic Ocean and Blue Planet and have been motivated to reduce our plastic consumption and complete beach cleans. 80% of the plastic in the ocean originates from the land so the Marine topic will look not only at our oceans and what a valuable resource they are to us, but also at what happens upstream and how our actions impact this vital environment from source to sea.

The conference will be held in the inspiring setting of W5 in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. Speakers include: Lizzie Daly, wildlife explorer and TV presenter, who will tell us of her ocean adventures around the world and the disastrous results she has seen from plastic pollution; and Sylvie Verinder from the Plastic Oceans team on the impact the film ‘A Plastic Ocean’ has had and introducing the teaching resources associated with it.

We will also celebrate new Ambassador Eco-Schools, hear from inspiring young people and announce our Eco-Teacher of the Year award. A superb selection of workshops will be available on the day provided by Lizzie Daly, Sylvie Verinder, RSPB, Field Studies Council, Eco-Schools, Ulster Wildlife and Into Film. There will also be exhibit stands to browse while enjoying your lunch.

The registration form can be found here and general information about the day is available here. Please register before the 7th March. Places are limited so don’t delay! We look forward to seeing you there.
