Translink
Translink is committed to providing integrated public transport that is attractive, sustainable and good value. We have delivered a number of service improvements over the last number of years and as a result more and more passengers are choosing to travel by bus or train.
Excellent public transport is the right choice for the community, for the environment and for sustainable development. Through educating young people we want to encourage more people to think about the benefits of public transport, help reduce traffic congestion and contribute to a healthier environment for all.
Translink and TIDY NI have joined forces to get schools involved in this Eco-schools project and in particular to look at the Transport theme. They have launched the Translink Eco Schools Travel Challenge that aims to encourage young people to use more sustainable transport and have developed a series of classroom educational resources for both KS1 and KS2 pupils.
There are 15 schools taking part in the first pilot project during 2010 and Translink will reward challenge winners with special travel prizes. Translink aims to develop the project and roll it out to more local schools moving forward.
