RSPB
RSPB Northern Ireland supports schools working towards their Eco-Schools awards through the provision of support and advice on developing school grounds and enhancing local biodiversity. We also offer a variety of exciting programmes exploring the Biodiversity and the Global Dimension modules. We provide a range of web and printed materials, offer activities such as the Big Schools Birdwatch, Wildlife Action and Climate Action Awards, targeted conservation activities, out of classroom experience and a school visits programme across all age ranges from nursery to Key Stage 4, and for children with special educational needs. We work with teachers to ensure our programmes suit the target audience and deliver for the NI curriculum. Visit our website or talk to our Education Officer to find out how we can support your school.
The RSPB’s work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility to protect birds and the environment. Bird populations reflect the health of the planet on which our future depends.
The need for an effective bird conservation organisation has never been greater. Climate change, agricultural intensification, expansion of urban areas and transport infrastructure, and over-exploitation of our seas all pose major threats to birds.
RSPB Northern Ireland is committed to conserving all bird species as well as protecting, enhancing and re-creating key habitats for all wildlife. The support of over 11,000 members in Northern Ireland and over one million throughout the UK, funds our work. We currently look after over 3,000 hectares of nature reserves, bringing benefits to wildlife, to the quality of life for people who live here and boosting the local economy through sustainable tourism.
RSPB requests a donation of £30 for the first hour and £10 for each hour thereafter for school visits.
