Who are we?

Northern Ireland Water places great importance on educating young people in the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

What topic to we support?

Water and Healthy Living

Our Education programmes, currently free of charge, they are two fold (1) conservation-raises awareness of saving water and its effects on sustainability and (2) water for health-how important water is to living a healthy life.

How can we help?

Our Water Education Team can deliver our classroom presentations, 1 hour long, with practical based activities and can be delivered to year groups or Eco committees

Water Conservation

As a support to our classroom presentation each pupil receives conservation promotional items and literature. Teachers receive these too along with a CD-rom “Water in the family” for classroom use. Historical data on water use can be obtained for schools following the Eco schools initiative. Tips for conservation techniques are available from both Water Education Team and website at www.niwater.com.   Our Education microsite has an excellent “Saving Water” section, with a downloadable “NIW School Water Audit” Leaflet. This leaflet will assist schools in finding methods of how to save water as well as reading their meter.

Healthy Living

As a support to our classroom presentation pupils and teachers receive a water bottle and literature. Our Education microsite has a section “Water for Life” where pupils can calculate if they are dehydrated and find out how it affects our bodies.
