British Council
British Council is the UK’s leading education and cultural organisation working to strengthen understanding and levels of trust between people in the UK and other societies and to increase understanding of the case for tackling climate.
Programmes for schools
We offer a range of opportunities for schools to develop learning partnerships with schools in Europe and in countries across the globe. We help schools find international partners, organise contact seminars, offer advice and guidance on building effective partnerships, run introductory workshops and grant preparation seminars/surgeries and work in partnership with ELB Advisors to inform and support individual schools. Global School Partnerships
Funded by the Department For International Development, Global School Partnerships promotes partnerships between schools in the UK and schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The programme provides advice and guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to schools that are using school partnerships as a means for developing a global dimension within their curriculum; advice and support to schools who wish to embed a global dimension in the curriculum; the opportunity to explore global dimension themes through a learning partnership with schools in other countries and provide real opportunities for pupils to participate as global citizens
The programme aims to raise young people’s awareness of global development issues including climate change and sustainable development, and equip them with the skills and knowledge to become active global citizens.
European Partnerships
The Comenius Programme aims to develop knowledge and understanding among young people and education staff of the diversity of EU cultures and languages and to help young people to acquire basic life skills and competences for their personal development, for future employment and for active European citizenship. Partnerships have funding for mobility and allow staff and pupils to collaborate on a theme of mutual interest either for school improvement or enrichment of the curriculum.
